Most probably the older generations will remember the famous chocolate factory “Zora”. The ones who had the chance to grow up with their chocolate bananas were the lucky ones. Luckily, I am in the same group of people. However, as I experienced the best sweets in the ex Yugoslavia, I also witnessed the collapse of this small, but once successful confectionery empire. However, the old brand is worth remembering.

The story of “Zora” starts back in 1920’s, but the name of the factory is known in 1950’s. During the 1980’s it experiences its peak of production and success. They followed the Sarajevo Olympic Games at that time. In the early 1990’s, during the “dark ages” for that part of the Balkans, “Zora” was completely devastated. Soon after that period, it continues the production under the name “Sarabon”. Unfortunately, it encountered the same destiny as many domestic factories nostalgic remembering of their packs of chocolate like the following one…
